Bríd Heanue with her son and some Island friends, Inishturk (Inis Toirc – “Wild Boar Island”) (winter pop. 70), nine miles off the western coast, near Killary Harbour, to the north of Inishbofin and south of Clare Island in the Atlantic, can be accessed by ferry from Roonagh Pier in Co. Mayo and by hired boat from Cleggan Pier in Co. Galway.
